The Red Guide to Temp Agencies
Reviews and Other Links
I started this section to give Red Guide readers an idea of what
people are saying about the Red Guide, and also to list some useful
links. Note that the Red Guide is not designed to be a "hotlist" or a
bookmark file, so only those sites which are specifically related to
temping, or which contain links to the Red Guide, are included.
Here's what people are saying about the Red Guide:
- "Another site . this one based in New York City . where temporary
workers can share horror stories, warn others not to go near certain
agencies, etc. Angus B. Grieve-Smith created this Red Guide. This
site, and the one above, show what the Web could do for job-hunters,
if it were really fulfilling its promise. I wish we had this kind of
use of the Web not just in New York City but throughout the whole
country, and not only for temp agencies, but for companies, career
consultants, everything. Some Usenet groups, of course, do offer
similar bulletin boards."

Richard Nelson Bolles. http://www.jobhuntersbible.com/research/temp.shtml
- "Part of using the net as an employment tool means an increased
level of public scrutiny. The Red Guide to Temp Agencies is a prime
example of a component of the industry's future. Rankings and
evaluations based on individual customer's experiences with the
agencies in question. It's important to remember that this is a very
different environment. One mistake can be very costly."

Go New York City
- "This is mostly a guide to New York-area temp agencies, but it
has lots of useful information for temps everywhere (especially on
their 'Tips for Temps' page). Two other things we like about this
website: (a) its name sounds pleasantly communistic; and (b) the URL
has the name 'panix' in it, which seems especially appropriate for
temps."
- Tools

an understanding of the good, bad, and even ugly characteristics of
temp agencies in general."

City. But the information is good, the advice solid, and it has a link
to temping in other cities."
